19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to secure a title is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued four early-game chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
