In the dying moments, sheer ecstasy erupted for Chelsea and interim manager Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández stabbed home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola howling at the heavens and gifted the temporary Chelsea manager a truly golden moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch, making the recollection of Fernández's crucial intervention one to warm the 40-year-old in his dotage.

A Stark Contrast in Pedigree

On the City bench stood the generation's pre-eminent figure, a man with an unparalleled CV for football's giants Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, stood a one-time trainer at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and stepped up to make his first-team debut after being temporarily promoted from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.
